The Earth - The Whole World

What Kind of Fairy Tales Do We Need?

A Time for New Questions

Falling financial quotes, bankrupt businesses, thousands of specialists left without work – every day brings new reports of the collapse of the global economic system unfolding before our eyes. Some people are very concerned about this, while others are completely indifferent. Just as indifferent are the consequences of terrorist attacks, man-made disasters, and earthquakes happening somewhere far away.

Can we blame people for this indifference if they are tired of upheavals, tired of worrying about their own future, if they can no longer see the line where good intentions turn into evil?

The world is sinking deeper and deeper into crisis, and not just financial crisis. 'What to do about global warming, which is already reaching catastrophic proportions, about hunger, about the socio-political chaos that is gradually spreading from one region of the planet to another?' These are the questions politicians are asking themselves.

Each of us would very much like to know what tomorrow will bring, where the modern world is heading, what feelings are for, what a dignified life is, what is the purpose of this or that 'key' decision, why are we so eager to destroy?

All in the Same Boat

Any crisis brings problems, but it also has its positive side. The destruction of illusions and the abandonment of established habits awakens the consciousness of people for whom career, money, and a high level of consumption of various goods have long become the main meaning of existence.

There is a growing sense that we are all in the process of undergoing tremendous changes. How effectively, quickly and painlessly these changes will take place depends on the communication system that now connects completely different members of society: from heads of state to ordinary people.

Today, economic and political experts from many countries have finally agreed on one thing: it is not economics or politics, but culture – the culture of human relations, the creation of new types of activity, and the culture of lifestyle – that are considered the main resources for a new round of evolutionary development.

A Project Unlike Any Other

There are currently no answers to many of the questions that the global crisis is posing to people. They can and must be sought only if everyone is involved in the process of creating the future. But how many mechanisms are there today to solve this problem?

Perhaps the extraordinary situation in the organisation of information exchange between people separated by thousands of kilometres dictates the search for extraordinary solutions? Marin Angel Lazarov, the author of the idea for the international socio-cultural project 'The Globe – the Whole Earth', reasoned in this way.

The Vision

Finland was chosen for the development of this project. Fantastic scenery: Lapland nature; under the northern dome of the sky, flashing with thousands of lights in winter – a well-built log cabin. In one of the rooms with glass walls, there is a large transparent model of the globe.

At first, it is empty, but it will be filled with soil brought by people from different corners of the planet. They will come here in pairs, primarily from countries that are in a state of conflict.

According to the project's author, ordinary people will be able to successfully carry out a diplomatic mission that is not bound by any rules: they will bring a little bit of their native soil, mix the two parts together, and then pour it into the symbolic globe. Among the first could be residents of Iraq and the United States, representatives of Russia and Georgia...

Fairy Tales, as Necessary as Air

At first glance, the description of the project resembles a beautiful fairy tale. Yes, if we are referring to fairy tales such as Andersen's or Green's 'The Scarlet Sails'... They contain allegories of life's truths. And here, it is not a game of globe, but an action capable of making any dream come true.

The greatest loss that many people in different countries have experienced in recent years is the devaluation of the concepts most dear to humans. The words 'homeland,' 'faith,' and 'love' are inexorably turning into deceptions, and sometimes it seems that it is very difficult to restore their true meaning.

It seems... Until we ourselves make an attempt to cast aside the superfluous, at least once allow ourselves to do something unusual.

Why Finland?

Why is it that Finland, a small country, is equated in this project with the mission of great powers with their great ambitions? Anyone who has ever had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the nature of Suomi will easily find the answer to this question.

Chaotic clusters of huge rocks, barely touched by silver moss; the blue expanse of countless lakes; forests covering the entire country — this is perhaps all the exoticism that nature has bestowed upon little Finland.

Laconic, nothing huge, nothing 'too much'. But perhaps it is this restrained austerity that has taught the inhabitants of this part of the planet to appreciate what is really important. The simplest things here have a wonderful way of 'speaking' about the most intimate things.

Core Values

The project with the sonorous name 'The Earth is the Whole Earth' is actually addressed to the defenceless human heart. It longs for the silence of true values, nostalgic for kindness, which will never cease to cherish the comfort of 'small' spaces.

The proposed project is as real as every person's need for true, rather than fleeting, values. It makes us think: what is really most important for a person?

Culture Implies Integrity

The project 'The Globe – the Whole Earth' will develop in space and time: it has a consolidating property, the ability to look into the past, and a focus on constructing the future. It is designed to 'work' at various levels. Moreover, all of them are equally important.

Project Goals

  • Ways to 'see' our planet from the outside, to think about what will happen to it tomorrow
  • Reflect on the contribution of each territory to overall development
  • Consider the role that ordinary PEOPLE play in this process
  • Emphasise that the value of a region is determined not only by natural resources and cultural heritage, but also by its innovative potential
  • Serve as an international platform and open forum for local government leaders, public organisations, and the business community

Initiating Events is a Distinctive Feature

The fairy-tale house in Lapland will be nothing like a museum. This international socio-cultural project is aimed at productive, long-term ACTION. Therefore, it is hardly possible today to list the entire range of tasks that it will focus on. There are no boundaries to goodness.

Potential Activities

  • Children's festivals and competitions in different countries
  • Ecological expeditions
  • Opening of cultural centres
  • 'Talk to me, colleague' – interviews with national elite leaders, cultural figures, thinkers, and athletes
  • Discussions with international business leaders and heads of large companies

'Talk to Me, Colleague' Sub-Project

This project invites leaders of the national elite of different states – prominent cultural figures, thinkers, athletes – people who make a tangible contribution to the preservation and development of the system of human values – to engage in sincere conversation with each other.

These interviews can be published in newspapers in different countries and on websites. A dialogue between representatives of the intellectual elite of different countries, open to the world, takes on a completely new quality. In this way, every person is invited to participate in the creation of the future.

The proposed international socio-cultural project hopes to become part of the global programmes implemented by UNESCO, UNICEF and the cultural initiatives of the European Union.

To be honest, I just read what you sent me in one go... The idea is brilliant and wonderful... But it is very difficult to stir our people into action... It will be very difficult to implement this. Many will not understand, simply because many have different values in life. Their hearts have grown hard, and the majority only love themselves, only see themselves, and only feel themselves. And how can you change something that is already in their blood? Although... I agree, you can find people who will support you and follow you. You are a LEADER and an extraordinary person! You can do it! How can I help you?

The project is very positive, kind, and most importantly, it's something completely new in my opinion, but... I think we should start not with politicians, businessmen and, quote, 'local government officials, representatives of public organisations, and the business community,' but with ordinary people... and then this project will really become popular! Good luck with your endeavours!!!

I like your project, it's so kind and bright... You're probably right, lately people think too much about material things and forget who they really are and why they came into this world. God willing, your project will reach more people so that their hearts do not become hardened. But I must say, not everything is as bad as it seems at first glance, and there is so much beauty in the world that is worth living for. This applies to YOU too!

'Love, like a wave, is transmitted from person to person...' Marin, this is a wonderful project (like all your projects) and very beautiful. It really is like a fairy tale, because it also warms the heart... Who among us did not dream of being in a fairy tale as a child? Let this fairy tale come true. The project is wonderful, Marin, may you have kind helpers to assist you!

Your project is very interesting, Marin! I think people really need fairy tales like this. After all, we rush around and lose our faith in goodness and the wonderful magical fairy tales of childhood along the way. But in essence, adults are still children and they need them too.

I really liked how you talk about the whole world and what is happening in it. It is immediately obvious that you care! I agree with you on everything, but unfortunately I cannot help in any way. I liked your point of view on what is happening. Indeed, no one notices that, apart from the financial crisis, there are many other problems, but no one cares! No one understands that money is not important, that we have our planet and it needs help!
